What we recommend ::

The short answer is no.

The Rumparooz One Size Pocket diaper is designed to function, as is, from birth through potty training without additions or substitutions. However, babies that are heavy wetters, or sleep 10-12 hours at night, might benefit from a Bamboo or Hemp insert upgrade. Bamboo and Hemp are natural fibers and slightly more absorbent than the microfiber insert that is included with each diaper purchase. However, microfiber absorbs much more quickly. Individually sold diapers also have an upgrade option, so you can buy the diaper with a bamboo or hemp insert, instead of the standard microfiber insert. Bamboo and Hemp inserts are also sold individually.

Another slightly more absorbent option is the Rumparooz OBV (Organic cotton Bamboo Velour). This is the organic version of the original Rumparooz One Size Pocket diaper. The Rumparooz OBV has an organic cotton and bamboo velour interior and comes with the upgraded Bamboo insert as a standard.

For babies that do need a highly absorbent solution for overnight, our most absorbent option is the Ecoposh One Size Fitted and a Rumparooz Diaper Cover. The Ecoposh One Size Fitted is also a pocket diaper and comes with the Bamboo inserts for a total of 10 layers of solid absorbency. You can store wet and soiled diapers either in a dry pail, or a wet bag. Storing diapers in a wet pail is not recommended and will void your warranty.

Rumparooz One Size Pocket diapers, and the Microfiber insert it comes with, just need to be washed once before use! The Rumparooz OBV only needs to be washed once before use, BUT the Bamboo insert, that it comes with, will need to be "prepped". Other products made of natural fibers, such as hemp inserts, bamboo inserts and our Ecoposh One Size, Ecoposh Newborn and Ecoposh Training Pants will need to be prepped before use to increase their absorbency. Any products that need to be prepped we expect a 5% shrink.

How to "prep":

1. Hot wash (no detergent)
2. Tumble dry on High
3. Repeat 3-5 times

We recommend using a detergent that contains enzymes. Enzymes are biodegradable and are used to dissolve protein stains. They also break down the fats and oils in your diaper left behind from your baby using the diaper.

We do not recommend using any other laundry additives on your diapers. If you feel like your diapers are not getting clean, please contact us so we can help!

Stripping is the process of removing oils from your diapers. If you have used detergent with fabric softener, diaper creams or other kinds of oils, you may need to strip your diapers. Please contact us so we can help you troubleshoot!

Stripping is not something you should have to do often, if ever. If you find yourself needing to strip your diapers often, it may be time to change up your wash and care routine. Please contact us so we can help you find a routine that works for you!

Most parents agree that 24 is a number to aim for. When your child is a newborn, you should expect to change the baby 10 to 12 times a day.

Diaper rash while in cloth diapers is not very common. If your child has a persistent rash, you will want to determine the source of the rash and consult your physician. When using diaper cream, we recommend to ALWAYS use a liner to protect your diapers.

To remove stains, you can lay your diapers in indirect sunlight while wet.
